My passion is for helping people to be in less pain while getting more functionality in their bodies and days. I use a variety of techniques to address muscular painand dysfunction, including neuromuscular massage (trigger point therapy), deep tissue massage, supported stretching, fascial release, and postural analysis.
Neuromuscular, or trigger point, therapy aims to gently release tight and painful spots within muscles. It involves direct pressure and intentional breathing (facilitated by movement and positioning). This allows us to have a conversation with your nervous system, to convince the muscle that it is safe enough to let go. Relieving these chronic spasms within the muscle tissue usually provides an immediate decrease in pain and tension. I also facilitate fascial release, in which we remodel the connective tissue that holds you together, clearing adhesions that have come to restrict your body's natural movement and tension balance.
I do not have a "fluff and buff" massage practice. Some of my clients have said, "Instead of a 'feel good' massage, this is a 'feel better afterward' massage."
I understand that every body is unique. My goal is to get you better as fast as possible. Many of my clients are in significant pain, and have a hard time getting into certain positions. To that end, we can accommodate many different issues and positioning needs with: floor work, table work, chair work, inversion table, or any combination thereof.
While I offer the highest quality massage therapy, and am excited to help you get better, many injuries and chronic painful conditions involve more than your muscles! For this reason, most people benefit from multidisciplinary care.
To help you get your best care, I am happy to coordinate with your other providers. I play well with all other types of medical providers (Medical Doctors, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, etc.), and look forward to being part of your care team!
